Noble Casino (House of Scientists) – Lviv, Ukraine

Noble Casino (House of Scientists) in Lviv is a building dominated by neo-baroque style. It was built in 1898 according to the design of Viennese architects Ferdinand Frlner and Herman Gelmer, who created, among others: Opera in Odessa, Comedy Theater in Budapest, Opera in Zurich, Polish Theater in Bielsko-Biała, Teatr im. Adam Mickiewicz in Cieszyn, Goetz Palace in Brzesko. This building is famous for its magnificent architecture and beautiful rooms with elegant interiors. Inside, the historic wooden stairs in the main hall and the glass ceiling above them make the biggest impression. The outside of the building is decorated with an arcaded loggia and two statues of atlantes at the entrance portals. The name of the casino can be misleading, because it was not a casino like those existing today. It was a place of informal meetings of the most influential inhabitants of the city, where politics was discussed and business was negotiated. For this reason, the common names of this facility are also Kasyno Ziemiańskie or Kasyno Konskie. The latter name is closely associated with a well-positioned group of horse breeders. Performances and performances were held here. The Noble Casino was the first building in Lviv that had electric lighting! One of the most beautiful places in Lviv. It is located at ul. Czynu Listopadowego 6 (formerly ul. Mickiewicza) in Lviv.
