    Martvili Canyon – Georgia

    2023-02-28 /

Martvili Canyon is located about 50 km from Kutaisi in Georgia. It’s not too big. The biggest attraction is a short pontoon trip (obligatory with a guide) on the Abasha River, which shows us the true beauty of this gorge. This place is a miracle of nature. The trip lasts very short, about 20 minutes, to see the rest of the canyon, 15-20 minutes is enough. You will see there pristine clear water, including beautiful waterfalls. All around the canyon is surrounded by countless greenery. No photos can show all the beauty of these places. Admission for an adult costs 17.25 GEL (approx. 6 euro), and for a child 5.5…

Tarnica (1346m) – the highest peak in the Bieszczady Mountains

    2023-02-25 /

Tarnica is the highest peak in the Bieszczady Mountains (1346 m). It belongs to the Crown of Polish Mountains. In the past, the massifs of Tarnica and Halicz were called the Bear Mountains. This was a reflection of the large bear population in the area. On the top of Tarnica there is a large steel cross, which was placed in 2000. after the previous one was destroyed (broken). At the top, a plaque commemorating the entrance to Tarnica was unveiled by Fr. Karola Wojtyła on August 5, 1953 and his third pilgrimage to his homeland as the Holy Father in 1987. The time to reach the top from Wołosate is…

Viaducts in Stańczyki, in Kiepojcie, in Botkuny

    2023-02-25 /

On the outskirts of the Romnicka Forest in Stańczyki there are the highest viaducts in Poland. They are the remnants of the former Gołdap – Żytkiejmy railway line, which was put into use in the interwar period. The bridges were built by the Germans and are the highest structure of this type in Poland. They resemble Roman aqueducts. The twin bridges have a reinforced concrete structure, five spans with equal arches, 15 meters high. They were designed by architects from Italy. They cross the valley of the Błędzianka River. The road itself, which leads to Stańczyki, is extremely picturesque. The trees growing along the road give a mysterious atmosphere and…

The Repablic of Ściborska – an ecological settlement

    2023-02-24 /

The Republic of Ściborska is located in the wildest region of Masuria, called the Polish pole of cold. It is a beautiful area, surrounded by a natural landscape. There is no telephone coverage there, and only forest, grazing cows and wild animals around… This is the region of Poland with the cleanest air. In the settlement there is a museum of Indian and Eskimo culture, the Museum of Maria Rodziewiczówna and the book “Summer of Forest People”, an open-air museum of trapper huts, an Indian village (summer period), a Russian banya, an old house with a preserved black room, ruins of an old farm, traditional wells with water drinking; the…

    Pyramid in Rapa

    2023-02-24 /

Pyramid in Rapa – a mysterious structure hidden among forests and swamps serves as the tomb of the Prussian von Fahrenheid family. Inspired by the Egyptian pyramids, the building was built around 1811. Seven people are buried there, the bodies were naturally mummified thanks to specially created conditions. Through the windows you can see 7 wooden coffins. After the war, the tomb remained open for many years. The vandals desecrated the corpses, decapitated them and left them lying in open coffins. A few years ago, the peace of the dead was taken care of and all entrances to the tomb were secured with bars. The history of this pyramid hides…
